Over the last few years, contemporary art collecting is gaining importance on a global scale. Individuals are passionate about contemporary art and support its quick development, and the globalisation of Turkish art. The Elgiz Museum’s mission is to support art, to make the works of artists visible and to show the Elgiz Collection, and other collections that have given art momentum.
The ‘Young Collectors 2’ exhibition shares the works of Turkey’s young generation collectors. Each collector tells their own story, shares their visions and feelings. The museum’s show invites the viewer to discover the unknown and the unseen. Just as last year’s exhibition stirred curiosity and excitement, this year’s show puts the spotlight on young generation collectors. The exhibition’s common spirit becomes clear in the catalogue, which sheds light on the collectors’ experiences and passions.
Marcus Graf is the curator of the exhibition, where a selection of representative works from each collection are shown side-by-side with the collectors’ ‘first works’.
Selections from the Şeli-Alber Elvaşvili, İrem-Sina Kınay, Billur-Atilla Tacir and Şebnem-Mahmut Ünlü collections are on view until May 16th. The museum will also organise parallel events within the framework of the exhibition.
