The Elgiz Museum’s exhibition titled “52-62” focuses on a period in the history of Turkish contemporary sculpture. The exhibition showcases works of sculptors born between 1952 and 1962. “52-62” opens on the museum’s terrace, where visitors get the chance to view different artworks of well-known Turkish sculptors in an unusual setting. The exhibition opens on September 17th and is on display until December 27th. The artists in the exhibition were invited by the museum’s Advisory Committee, which consists of the sculptors and academics: Seyhun Topuz, Rahmi Aksungur, Nilüfer Ergin, Haşim Nur Gürel and Can Elgiz. The artists were not chosen according to a general theme, but age and artistic development. Sculptures covering a variety of material will demonstrate the development of sculpture and the production processes in the framework of a selected time period. Exhibited pieces carry classical, figurative, conceptual and kinetic characteristics. Some artists are exclusively creating news pieces for this exhibition, while some pieces will be loaned from private collections.
